COMPOSING

I have composed since I was in the Sixth Form at school. It is an activity which I enjoy immensely and which I have indulged in more and more as I have got older. Indeed since the turn of the century the time has been particularly fruitful in that in 2001 I finished my first symphony as well as a song cycle called The DTs. In that year also I wrote a piece for my brother`s 60th birthday: Birthday Variations and arranged Puccini`s opera, Suor Angelica for an orchestra of classical proportions. In 2002 I worked on a piece commissioned by Stevenage Choral Society for the 2002 Stevenage Golden Jubilee Festival. The piece is written for adult choir, children`s choir and orchestra and was premiered on 2 June 2002 at the Gordon Craig Theatre, in Stevenage by Stevenage Choral Society, Kingshott School Chamber Choir and Hitchin Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Robin Osterley. It is a setting of Oscar Wilde`s fable, The Selfish Giant.

The following is a list of compositions and arrangements I have made. Many of these works are still in manuscript, but some are available in printed form. More compositions are being made available in printed form all the time, using the Sibelius version 2.1 notation software and a laser printer. A number of these compositions and arrangements have been performed and some have also been recorded.
